Pit Bull Terrier Mix: An adoptable dog in Silverdale, WA
Medium • Adult • Male
Harvard is a handsome brindle Pitbull mix looking for a new family to love and care for him. He was found on Nelson Road in Olalla and brought to the shelter as a stray. He is approximately 3 years old, has been neutered, and has a microchip, so he can go home with you today. When Harvard arrived, he had a problem with his eye, so our great vet staff fixed him up, and he is excited to find a forever home. Harvard is a friendly, nice boy. He is pushy with other dogs so he may want to be the only dog. Harvard needs an owner that will provide him with training and lots of love and exercise. We are recommending children 10+ years of age.
Harvard went on a Cage Break...read about his vacation:
Harvard had a great weekend. Try Harder should be his middle name! This boy adores people and is willing to work hard to please. Harvard visited two dog stores on his vacay and impressed everyone with his good manners and obedience. He met many people on his weekend out of the kennel and was friendly and appreciative of pets and attention from both children and adults. He knows sit and down and is pretty reliable on his newly learned skill, bed. If he is allowed to sleep in the bedroom on a dog bed he is quite and does not get up until you take him out. He keeps his kennel at the shelter clean and is housebroken. He can pull on the leash when he first starts out on a walk. He does not jump up, he is not destructive, not a digger or a barker. Although he only has one eye it will always be on you! Harvard likes to know where his people are, not in a pushy or needy way, he just wants to have you in sight. I did have him outside by himself and he chose to just sit at the door, patiently waiting for me to return. He has an excellent recall! He is fabulous in the car and I had him loose, no kennel. He loves to lay in your lap and get pets, he is an affectionate guy. On walks he acknowledged other dogs but did not over react to them. He can be inappropriate with other dogs ie trying to mount females, but on his weekend with me I did not have any problems. He could see my dogs all weekend and interact (through the fence) mostly he ignored them or politely sniffed and wagged his tail. Harvard responded very quickly to verbal corrections when his behavior needed checking ie mounting a dog bed. Harvard is a loving boy that is respectful and so very devoted to his person, you can really feel the love from this guy!
