Johnnie is a beautiful, senior Golden X with cloudy eyes and past her PTS date in this high kill shelter!!! She deserves better than to die afraid and all alone in a cold shelter!!! A volunteer writes: Johnnie has a beautiful smile that really appeared after our walk and our time together. I found her looking dull on her blankie, a big chunky girl. I thought that nothing would come out of our encounter. I was so wrong.... Johnnie loves to be with people. She was a pet, all right. She has all the "signs". Tail wagging, eyes meeting mine during our stroll, happy face. Johnnie enjoyed meeting with other volunteers and their dogs. She is a socialite... Johnnie walks quite well despite her weight. She needs a better diet and many walks a day. She has good hips that carry her well. She climbs the stairs well too. She sits on command and poses for the pictures. Johnnie is a pretty girl. Her coat is bright orange and very soft, missing hair in a few places. Her eyes are still quite clear and translate goodness. I really like her. Johnnie is at the

DO NOT call and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.
DO NOT e-mail unless serious about adopting and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go un-noticed.
