A volunteer writes: Ronnie has a big note on her kennel "Blind – go slow", so slow and easy it was. I talked to her as I unlatched her door, letting her sniff my hand before leashing her. Ronnie has a few issues - yes she is blind and she does bump into things if not led properly. Her coat is so matted that she has difficulty walking. She is an old gal, who began wagging her tail when we were outside and walking slowly. She 'goes' right away when outside, so is likely housetrained. She enjoyed feeling the sun on her back and was happy to just walk around large open spaces. She enjoys being pet, but is truly happiest when just left alone to walk - that's when the tail really gets going. Ronnie is sweet and needs a friend to get her groomed, take care of her health, and give her comfort and security for the rest of her life. He deserves nothing less.

RESCUE CONTACTS & INFORMATION for potential Fosters and Adopters, NYACC

DO NOT call and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.

DO NOT e-mail unless serious about adopting and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go un-noticed.
For more information on adopting, please visit their website: urgentdeathrowdogs.org and click on “How You Can Help.” There are also helpful links with information on each main album description.
