Update 6/15:
URGENT PLEA from White Angels Hope Rescue
This dog and the dog he was surrendered are on the urgent list at the NYCACC. They are in desperate need of rescue. We would like to help as one of the dogs is blind and looks like the kind of eye problem we have dealt with before. We feel this dog is from double merle breeding, but we are not sure of the breed but do not feel pit bull. They need to go TOGETHER as they are very bonded. Looking for foster situation which could end up being long-term. Serious inquires only and please share with anyone you think might be able to help in TRI-STATE area.

This boy is listed as a PBT Mixed but is believed to be a Shar Pei/American Bulldog Mix. Once again a dog that doesn't stand a chance mislabeled as a PBT with the NY ACC.

A volunteer writes: This is my buddy Mike surrendered with his
brother Snow (A0934806) as the owner has too many dogs. Like his
brother, Mike is an outside dog, accustomed to being loose in a
backyard. He has lived with a large family of people (4 adults and 5
children), as well as being one of nine dogs. He is a gentle boy with
excellent leash manners walking easily with me to the park. He
appears to be housetrained taking care of business right away. He
takes treats very gently, I could barely feel his lips on my fingers.
Mike looks a bit "weathered", living with a pack of dogs has taken its
toll on him, and never being inside in the comfort of a home with a
soft bed and lots of TLC shows. But what he looks like on the outside
does not seem to be what is in the inside. The Mike I spent time with
is gentle, calm and easy, uncomfortable in a new place but trying to
make the best of it. Mike is looking for a new backyard, which
should include a friend who will love him and pamper him; a whole new
experience for Mike.

Shelter Info:
DO NOT call and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.
For more information on adopting, please visit our website: urgentdeathrowdogs.org and click on “How You Can Help.” There are also helpful links with information on each main album description. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go un-noticed!
Contact:
Manhattan - 311 (212-639-9675 if outside of NYC)
(hit 0 for operator, do not leave a message. May need to hit 0 a few times at the end of each cycle to keep their phone ringing)!
Also email adoption@nycacc.org
(but ONLY if serious about adopting and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person).
