A volunteer writes: Midnight and moon reflections....
Midnight wears well her name . She is as dark as night with silver boots and fanion. Her coat is full although she is a bit on the thin side. I can feel her ribs under my hand. She is absolutely stunning but skittish and fearful. Her tail was as thick as a dark bush as we exited to the backyard. Her hackles were raised. She did not want any treats. We walked and walked and walked. She was getting used to me and even glanced at me from time to time. We eventually sat. Midnight had her back to me then slowly turned to give me her side. I petted her. She at first flinched , then got used to it and I could pet her further. We stayed quite a while in silence. At some point, Midnight looked at me , licked my hand and posed her head in my lap. A smooth operator she is. It was a win win situation for both of us. Tears almost came to my eyes. Midnight walked a little bit more and before we went back to her kennel finally took some treats from me. Midnight is a beautiful and young Shepherd. I can not say that I know her well but I certainly do like her a lot.... I hope that a Shepherd lover will see what I see and give her a chance. Midnight is at the Manhattan Care Center, hoping to start her new life as a pet with you.

RESCUE CONTACTS & INFORMATION for potential Fosters and Adopters, NYACC

DO NOT call and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.

DO NOT e-mail unless serious about adopting and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go un-noticed.
For more information on adopting, please visit their website: urgentdeathrowdogs.org and click on “How You Can Help.” There are also helpful links with information on each main album description.
