SAFE! PTS ANYTIME!! NY, Staten Island "Stevie" Blind Senior Lab X

STEVIE - ID#A0936880
Staten Island Center

SUPER URGENT 6/28/12

I am an unaltered male, chocolate Labrador Retriever mix.

The shelter staff think I am about 10 years old.

I weigh 95 pounds.

I was found in NY 11419.

I have been at the shelter since Jun 25, 2012.

He's a sweet, gentle and good boy who needs a helping hand. Stevie doesn't need much..a gentle heart, a helping hand and a place to lay his head. He will give back so much in return to whoever provides this for him. Please help this boy get out of the shelter and in to a home. Help Stevie by sharing him for a foster/adopter or rescue

Shelter Info:
DO NOT call and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.

  1. I love challenges when it comes to animals! Sense challenged animals are able to do very well, because they still have their other senses, which will become more intensified to help them! Having a plan and keeping a animal safe is key! Just like if you had a child! You need to keep in mind SAFETY and do things in a calm manner. Repetition of showing where things are for the furry child, and supervision is important. If not around keep in an enclosed area, not too small an area....you will see how dog responds to its surroundings! An experienced animal person will do well with an impaired sense, like her who is blind! Wishing this senior life, a life full of love and comfort, so he may enjoy his remaining years! <3
