I am writing to you all in hopes of you connecting me with someone that may rescue blue heelers or Australian shepherds? If you know of anyone who could possibly help this dog, any rescue organizations or just someone who can take him in for a temporary foster or forever home, I would be so grateful. I saw a post on facebook tonight and although I do not personally know who is temporarily taking care of this 8 year old dog, (her name is Shelly) I spoke to her on the phone and she is giving him until Monday or else she is taking him to the pound where he will most likely be put down.
After talking with Shelly, I am concerned because she doesn’t seem to have a lot of patience with the dog following her around after his world has been turned upside-down. He is deaf and just lost his only person he has ever known. I learned the owner had to part with all of her dogs and leave the state to take care of her sick mother. This pup was the hardest to place. I have also attached a photo.
So if you know of anyone you could connect me with to help this sweet dog, I would be so grateful. Feel free to forward.
Thank you,
Cathryn Bigley

Ok so the hearts in David & I could not let this happen.
Got a phone call from a lady who's choice was to find a good stable home or put him to sleep. (she was having to move out of state & couldn't take him with her)
Here's what she had:
*An 8yr old male blue heeler/Australian Shepard.
*HE IS DEAF, but don't let that fool you!
*He is fixed, up to date
on shots & rabies.
*He is intelligent, lovable, & loyal.
*Loves to cuddle but is too big to be a lap dog so he is satisfied with laying at your feet or next to wherever you sit.
**He knows some hand gestures
**He is about 70% housebroken
**He needs a stay at home parent to continue training in housebreaking & commands (yes I know he's older but cattle dogs are quick learners & always willing to learn)
*He is crate trained, altho he doesn't like to be in it b'cuz he starts whining, yelping, & yapping, but after awhile he settles down.
*He likes kids, is okay with other dogs, not sure about cats!
*He is not big on playing with toys, but loves to chase you & wrestle with you.
