Handsome Jackie Boy has not had such a good life so far.... found as a stray, covered with fleas, skinny, blind.... and brought to the vet to be euth'd!! But through it all, is a sweet boy! Please read his story below...

My vet contacted me yesterday about this little guy. They are calling him Jackie Boy. Animal Control found him Monday 5/21 wondering the streets and brought him to the vets to be PTS. He was covered in fleas, very skinny and he is blind. He is a sweet dog and they just could not put him down. So they have treated him for fleas and are hoping to find rescue/home for him. They think he is around 10, his teeth appeared to have been cleaned and there are no missing teeth. He does not like to have his feet or his rear touched and will growl if you touch them. Other than that, they have not found behavior issues with him, but they have only had him 1 day and have not thoroughly tested him. He is easily picked up and seems to enjoy being held. He is missing hair on his backside, but they think that is caused by flea allergy. Possibly thyroid, but more likely fleas because he had a lot of them. He does have diarrhea but no idea what the poor boy has been eating. Hopes are that will clear up and is nothing more than poor diet. They have not done a thorough exam, but will if rescue is found.

I cannot imagine what life was like for him on the streets trying to survive. He is so small – I cannot believe he DID survive. Who knows how long he was out there. In spite of it all he is sweet and loves people. I’m sure your rescue sees stories like this all the time. Heart-breaking!
