XXX URGENT!!! CT, Newington "Ranger" Aussie/Cattle Dog X Partially Blind

I spoke with Kitty from the shelter today about Ranger. I was hopeing that I would hear that his adoptive home would have a change of heart about him but she still does not want to keep him.... :(( Kitty does not want to bring him back to the shelter as it would do more harm than good....I think she is afraid he will get used to being dumped back there and it might wind up to become what he expects to eventually happen if he gets adopted again.....Ranger needs a good foster home to stand by him and show him what it is like to live in a family environment where you are wanted and loved.

Many of you may remember Ranger & Rhona the bonded pair of aussie cattle dog mixes who were at the Connecticut Humane Society back in the beginning of March. Both of these cuties found homes separately. While Rhona went to a home with a special needs son and is adored poor Ranger found himself back at the shelter as he could not fit into his new family's busy lifestyle of keeping him crated for 10 hours a day while all were away from home. He is now living in a home with a woman who adopted him but feels that she can't keep him as Ranger and the other dog in the house play during the day making her work at home arrangement not as quiet as it used to be with just one dog. Attached are some updated pictures of Ranger. I'm told by the shelter staff that Ranger is a huge snuggler who is very loving and gets along great with all other dogs & cats. He's lived in a home with both. He is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, dewormed/flea/tick treated, heartworm negative and microchipped and weighs about 25 lbs. This boy has it all and just needs the opportunity to settle into a household long enough to become part of the family....he needs someone to realize that he is just the same as any other pet just a little more special.

  1. I don't understand why the Humane Society would adopt out a special needs dog to someone who planned to crate him 10 hours a day? I'm pretty confused by this. In my lifetime I have adopted 3 wonderful dogs from CT Humane but was questioned pretty extensively about how I would keep the dog,etc etc.

  2. Holy crap...just stumbled upon this.
I actually MET this dog while shadowing at the CT Humane Society recently.
    What a sweetheart!
Networking/cross-posting as I would hate to see Ranger end up BACK at the shelter.

  3. I met the lovely Ranger on Saturday and he is an AWESOME dog! he was affectionate with me right off the bat! It was a wonderful interaction... I've adopted special needs animals for some time now, and I'm very excited to adopt Ranger within the next week or two!!! The only thing to get past is having him meet my other dog, Samson -- a rescue from the Hartford Shelter.. Assuming that goes as expected, Ranger will be coming home to be a part of my family with my daughter, our other dog, and our three cats. I'm incredibly excited and saying prayers that Samson and Ranger get along as well as I think they will. Say some prayers!!! He will be loved more than you can imagine in this household!!!! Thanks!!
