A volunteer writes:
"you will never get him to walk" were the words of the staff. Not in my book! You got legs, you walk! This dog needs fresh air and TLC! Buster was quite reluctant to exit his kennel. He did eventually but rolled quickly on his back, calling it quit...We stayed there for a moment, volunteers and staff looking at us with a smile....I was not going to give up . Buster probably realized that he could not stay plopped on the floor for ever and after all, he was almost free, out of his kennel. Buster decided to walk and off we went to the backyard where he enjoyed some good time and treats. He was walking quite well and eliminated by the same token. Buster is a very good looking dog, all muscle but a sweetheart. Few dogs came to the yard and Buster seemed fine with them. He likes to be caressed and comes with his paws on my lap for kisses. Buster seems to be a very nice dog who was clearly a loved pet in his former household. He is young, good looking and pleasant and just waiting to start his life all over with you. Buster is at the Manhattan Care Center.

Shelter Info:
DO NOT call and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.
For more information on adopting, please visit our website: urgentdeathrowdogs.org and click on “How You Can Help.” There are also helpful links with information on each main album
Also email adoption@nycacc.org. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go un-noticed description.
