SAFE!! XXX URGENT!! FL, Inverness "Omeko" Visually Impaired Bulldog X

Please meet Okemo! Look at that smiling face! Okemo is a very special young bulldog mix who is currently living at a kill shelter in Florida. Sweet Okemo has become a shelter favorite, and they are doing everything they can to help Okemo find rescue....He just got diagnosed with Progressive Retinal Degeneration and unfortunately will, at some point soon, go completely blind. They are hoping that he can find rescue before that happens, and have a second chance....

From a shelter volunteer:

At the present time we have in our shelter a dog named Okemo, who is a 4-year-old bulldog mix. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all of his shots. He came to the shelter in December and has become a shelter favorite. Unfortunately, he has vision loss, most likely seeing only shadows and light, and was recently diagnosed with Progressive Retinal Degeneration. He will be totally blind, soon. He has adjusted so well using his hearing and sense of smell, that you can hardly tell he is almost totally blind. This little dog is the happiest, sweetest dog you could ever meet. His tail wags contstantly, and I mean constantly, and he will kiss you to death. Even the girls at the Dr.'s office fell in love with him!! We were told that there is no treatment, he is in no pain, and he needs to learn voice commands.

If a rescue is willing to take him, we certainly would be willing to work on transportation. We have used P.E.T.S. to transport dogs to the north before. Of course it would depend on where the rescue is. We are a kill-shelter, but we are very committed to saving this dog. Financial fees will be taken care of.
