Johnnie was found around Kingsport, TN. Kim K contacted on in Feb of 2009 looking for a foster or rescue or furever home for her. She was transported to me on Feb 28 with the intention of her staying furever with me. She is a red-double merle Aussie who has can hear but cannot always orient herself to where the sounds are coming from (most likely deaf in one ear) and she is vision impaired (blind in her left and visual in her right. The vet report stated: She has very limited vision in her left eye, moderate microphthalmia, micrcophakia & coloboma) and mild microphthalmia, micrcophakia in her right eye). Veterinary Ophthalmology last saw her on 9/6/11 that says she seems fine and remains visual in her right eye.
She is a very loving dog, she loves people,. She will curl up in your lap or lean into as if she is trying to crawl inside. She has a wonderful people relationship.
However, sadly she does not really like other dogs. For a while she was doing well with my two older male dogs, especially with my submissive one but not at all with my puppy (they have to be separated at all times). That was working as well as one can expect but now she has been getting aggressive with my two older males (this includes my submissive one).
Then to add to the mix, I am going to be moving to a smaller home this Spring. This new home really has no way for me to keep all my dogs separate from her with out her having to spend far too much time in isolation which is not good for her at all. I am sad but I realize that due to my circumstances it would be best for me to re-home her to somewhere where she would be an only dog, or live with a submissive male.. It saddens me but I realize I need to do right by her.
Her DOB is listed as 6/2008 so she is will be 4 years old this coming June., she is current on all her shots & is spayed. She knows basic commands, sit & down (she has a weak stay). She is only ok on a leash but that is because most of the time my dogs are in and out in the yard and do not go walking much. She needs someone who can give her the love & attention that she needs/deserves."
