SAFE!!XXX URGENT!! CT, Newington "Ranger" & "Rhona" Partially Blind Catahoula's **Not Bonded**

UPDATE 3/2: She’s still here and deteriorating in the kennel (as expected). I still have her on my foster list, but have no volunteers that are willing to take her L She is spinning in the kennel and it is breaking my heart. We still have her on a regular obedience and exercise regimen, but she needs to get adopted quickly. She is such a good dog – one of our employees took her to an elementary school outreach event and she just adored all the children fawning over her. She will make someone a wonderful companion, if only they’d give her the chance!

UPDATE: 2/24: Ranger has been adopted, leaving Rhona all alone now :(

I am with the Connecticut Humane Society and we are desperately seeking rescue placement for two partially blind dogs that we have here in the shelter. Their names are Ranger (1 year) and Rhona (2 year) and they are two Australian Shepherd/Cattle Dog mixes. Ranger has very little photosensitivity and Rhona can see in one eye and is impaired in the other. While we are providing them with as much as we can, I do not believe that we are equipped to deal with special needs dogs and we feel as though they should be in foster homes with fosters knowledgeable about their needs, which we don’t have. Currently, we have to house them in a kennel and they are not doing well at all. We provide them with quiet time and time outside of the kennel, but I hate seeing them so disoriented in the cage. If you can assist us at all, we would greatly appreciate it.

I’ve attached some photos of them – they pics aren’t great, but I can take more if you’d like. They are really beautiful dogs. Both dogs are altered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, de-wormed/flea/tick treated, heartworm neg and microchipped. Both dogs are animal friendly and have been great in doggie play groups and with cats. They both passed their temperament evaluations with flying colors. Ranger is a huge snuggler and just wants to be a lap dog and Rhona is more outgoing - a playful, sweetheart. Both are non-vocal. They are about 25-30 lbs. We would send them to rescue with any supplies you would need for their care and we are willing to transport them anywhere.
