URGENT!!! Our foster home can no longer care for our Sophie so have given us until Dec 31 to find another place for her. SHE NEEDS A NEW FOSTER HOME!! She is wonderful with other dogs and after just a minute or two (and a few treats) she warms up to people quickly. Even though deaf, she knows numerous hand signals and is learning more each day. PLEASE HELP BY PROVIDING FOSTER CARE UNTIL WE CAN FIND HER FOREVER HOME!!!!

This beautiful, blue-eyed girl is incredibly sweet and gentle... and she's also deaf. Sophie weighs approx 45lbs, is 15 months old and she's already experienced numerous 'homes.' Because her life so far has been so unstable, she's a bit timid and cautious with new people. With patience and gentleness she quickly bonds and begins to trust, especially if you feed her good treats and you let her curl up next to you while sleeping! She's at first a bit timid with other dogs but after only a few seconds she gets along just fine. With some of the dogs she'll even join in when running or wrestling together.

Sophie will thrive in a home that has plenty of time, patience and encouragement to give, one that is relatively calm, and with people interested in helping her continue to learn despite her hearing impairment. She's a very smart girl and has already learned a few hand signals, such as sit, come, wait and kennel-up. Her curiosity of new places gets the best of her so she loves to go on walks and hikes and is learning that new surroundings can be fun instead of scary. Because of her current timid nature, kids over 16 are recommended, and no cats.

XXX URGENT!! IL, Chicago "Tiger" Deaf PBT Puppy

Tiger is at Anti-Cruelty in Chicago. This organization has been making strides to try and work with rescues to save deaf dogs.

In the past, being a deaf dog at ACS was a hopeless prognosis, but through wonderful staff and coordinators, they have worked to save dogs like Diva, a deaf pitbull puppy currently pending adoption from Secondhand Snoots Rescue.

Tiger’s ID is A14876148. He was an owner surrender (too many animals) with no bite history, and has passed his behavior evaluation for adoption.

In the first week or so after he was brought in, ACS did not identify his deafness, and they have said he is a very sweet boy that everyone loves.

He does hold his head to the left a bit, which could be anything. He is still a baby.

Tiger’s DOB is listed as 4/18/2011- making him ~8 months old… he is currently unaltered, but Anti-Cruelty will take care of that for a qualifying rescue.

He has already had his first DA2PP vaccination (12/18/2011 when he was surrendered) and roundworm treatment.

Please don’t let Tiger be euthanized because he is deaf. This puppy deserves a shot at a wonderful life—and a family to call his own.

We also just got in a deaf Dalamtian mix - we are not sure if he can hear at all, his people never came back or came looking for him. I need to get better pictures of him, he's a real beauty. New pictures coming shortly as these pictures don't capture what a "beauty" Dino is.

Dino is about 5-6 months appears to be purebred and was found as a stray. His holding period was over on 12/19. His owners never came looking for him, heis available for adoption now. He appears to be completely deaf but still needs to be seen by a vet to determine if that is correct. He is very lovable and has lots of puppy energy & enthusiam. Very sweet indeed. Oklahoma: Hope, a 2 year old merle mixed breed, is in urgent need of a home. She is currently with a foster but is living outside in a doghouse with a heat lamp. Temps have already drop...ped into the 20's, but what is more heartbreaking is that she is blind and hearing impaired. Backyard breeders and puppy mills know that two merle dogs will produce puppies that will have vision and hearing problems, but they are not concerned with the health of the dogs they breed or produce, they are only concerned with how much money they can make. URGENT!! CA, Sonoma "Daisy" Deaf Cattle Dog

Daisy is an ACD thru and thru. She likes to be in control; but responds well to strong, consistent, and fair leadership. She was found on the roadside and has been in foster or office foster for 2 months. Daisy has learned many hand cues; sit, down. go to bed, wait, come, touch, positive signal marker, negative signal marker, and a release. A trainers dream! She is very intelligent and a quick study. Daisy is very well-behaved ...for an adolescent. She does push boundaries. What adolescent doesn't? She has a great sense of humor and is quite the prankster. She will need a consistent, strong, leader to guide her down the right path. Once she knows what you are asking of her she is eager to do her best. Daisy will need to be monitored with other dogs until pack order is agreed upon. She is not happy to take a backseat and may very well want to be not only in control but in charge. She is true to her breed; as she is very loyal to her people and once you have established your leadership she is respectful of such. However; if you are not actively being a leader she will take on this role in regards to the other dogs. Daisy is very busy exploring anything of interest. She loves food stuffed toys and puzzles and figures them out in rapid speed. She is very quick to develop games to play with herself using whatever she can find; she will empty out the toy box looking for just the right object for her next game. Daisy does not aggressively guard resources from other dogs; but she will control their movement to keep them from accessing resources; including 'her' people. Daisy is very much the Australian Cattle Dog in so many ways, as well as being an adolescent, and deaf; all of this making her a very special adoption. Her new family should be experienced with cattle dogs or herding dogs at the very least. A strong background or interest in positive reinforcement training is a must. Experience with deaf dogs a plus.


I am the manager of Behavior and Training at Sonoma Humane Society and an ACD lover. We have a wonderful 1 year old, spayed/female, deaf ACD that I am looking to place in a cattle dog savvy home. So, I am reaching out to ACD rescues and organizations because Daisy needs a very “dog savvy” person who has a keen interest in training. I have cattle dogs myself and I feel that this girl needs a home that understands the breed or at the least is herding dog wise. She is as smart as any dog I have ever worked with and very sweet. She does come with her set of challenges; being deaf is, of course, just one of them. I have fostered her at my home and I office foster her everyday at the shelter. SAFE!! URGENT!! CA, Orange Blind Senior Poodle **Rescue Only**

No one came to claim this little treasure and she's now available at the OC Shelter. She's available to rescue only, simply because she's blind. Please consider helping her if you can. I've got a little one just like her and he goes for walks, gets along with my other dog and is the best cuddler ever. He's also 12 and blind but you would never know it by the way he gets around. I hope someone can help her.
I paid a visit with this adorable little lady today at OC shelter. Very petite and Very sweet. Appears to be blind. Came into shelter as "stray" 12/23. Not available yet ( stray hold and I woul dlove to reunite her)but please be on the look out. She really is a little gem, very sweet.

URGENT!!! Our foster home can no longer care for our Sophie so have given us until Dec 31 to find another place for her. SHE NEEDS A NEW FOSTER HOME!! She is wonderful with other dogs and after just a minute or two (and a few treats) she warms up to people quickly. Even though deaf, she knows numerous hand signals and is learning more each day. PLEASE HELP BY PROVIDING FOSTER CARE UNTIL WE CAN FIND HER FOREVER HOME!!!!

This beautiful, blue-eyed girl is incredibly sweet and gentle... and she's also deaf. Sophie weighs approx 45lbs, is 15 months old and she's already experienced numerous 'homes.' Because her life so far has been so unstable, she's a bit timid and cautious with new people. With patience and gentleness she quickly bonds and begins to trust, especially if you feed her good treats and you let her curl up next to you while sleeping! She's at first a bit timid with other dogs but after only a few seconds she gets along just fine. With some of the dogs she'll even join in when running or wrestling together.

Sophie will thrive in a home that has plenty of time, patience and encouragement to give, one that is relatively calm, and with people interested in helping her continue to learn despite her hearing impairment. She's a very smart girl and has already learned a few hand signals, such as sit, come, wait and kennel-up. Her curiosity of new places gets the best of her so she loves to go on walks and hikes and is learning that new surroundings can be fun instead of scary. Because of her current timid nature, kids over 16 are recommended, and no cats.

Matrix" is 8 - 10 yrs old and is blind. He was abandoned; left alone in a house for a week in a bedroom with no food, water....the owners just moved and left him to die!!!

Matrix is a 8-10 year old boy, he is blind , but that does not stop him, he will follow your voice where ever you go. When I got down on the floor, I started talking to him, he walked right up in to my lap and started rubbing his head on my legs. He loves attention. He is a small boy at 28LBS. I picked him up when I got a complaint the neighbor heard howling coming from next door house, neighbor said owner had moved almost a week ago. They left Matrix shut up in a bedroom, no food or water. and loaded with fleas, his hair was crawling. He needs a good bath, a good ear cleaning and good food. Matrix has a lot of good years left to give a family love, and sweet kisses. PLEASE if anyone can save this LH Doxie Mix please, contact Anne right away

This chunky boy is full of life and energy. He is completely deaf and cannot hear a thing. Dont let this discourage you from

considering him. He LOVES treats and with patience and time could learn all kinds of tricks. Since he cannot hear he works

off of hand signals and can already sit and lay down. He needs some work walking on leash. He currently wears an easy

walk harness when going out for walks and does okay. He loves people of all shapes and sizes and has never met a stranger.

He like dogs but tends to overwhelm them due to his exhuberent nature. He needs a patient and understanding owner who

will allow him to reach his potential despite his disability.

This girl is a senior, not sure exactly how old. Her name is Annabelle. She is a dear friend of mine's dog. My friend is moving out of state and will be traveling alot for her new job, so she will no longer be able to care for her. She had someone that had promised to care for her, but this girl was lying and never intended to care for Annabelle. She just found this out today and is leaving for her new job on the 1st. She is desperate for someone to take her, because she doesn't want to have to put her to sleep.

Annabelle is a senior shar pei/ golden lab mix. She is diabetic and blind and somewhat incontinent. She is timid and shy and has never been with anyone, but my friend and my friend's mother.

This poor girl is just looking for somewhere to live out her days in peace. Please, spread this far and wide! I know this baby is a long shot, but I have to try!

Vet/Medical Info: Willie has not been to see a vet so we have been unable to verify his medical information.

Owner Info: Willie has been in his current home since the end of October. His current owner took him and another furry friend in when their previous owner was going to dump them. She is now over her limit and the city has told her she needs to get rid of two dogs by Friday 30 December. Willie hasn’t been to see a vet recently so is not UTD with vaccinations, or HW tested. Willie is blind from cataracts. Willie is a very sweet boy, he is neutered, good with other dogs, not quite housebroken. He is an indoor dog confined to one area of the house, he is leash trained. Willy will warm up to kids quicker than adults. If his owner has idea he is going to be able to go somewhere, she MAY be able to keep him until Sunday. She does not want to take him to shelter, says he'll be PTS.

2/20/12 UPDATE:

Carma is good with other dogs - I've tested her with males and females of all sizes and she's fine with all. Just no cats or toddlers.... both of those could startle her.

I'm sending some photos of Carma in the hopes you may know someone interested in saving a dog like her. Carma is about 6 years old and 95% blind. She was surrendered to the shelter by her owner as Carma attacked the family cat. We do not know the circumstances, but I would expect the cat startled her and that led to her lashing out. We have seen absolutely no aggression from her at the shelter but it stands to reason she would not like being touched unannounced especially if she does not hear someone approach.

Carma is housetrained, leash trained and well behaved. She loves to go for walks and will follow her person's voice quite happily. She has become totally familiar with my voice and as soon as I approach and call her name, she does a complete body wiggle with joy. She loves to be petted and talked to and also enjoys quiet time in a cozy bed. She's currently housed in a pen in the puppy play house as she did not do well in the kennels with all the noise.

Carma is a shelter favorite and the staff have asked me to save her life. I know there is a home out there somewhere for her - just need to hook the two up together. Obviously she needs a home without children or other pets, where she can live the quiet life and not be taken by surprise
