XX URGENT NC, Raleigh "Frontier" Blind Boxer Mix

This is Frontier. He is a Boxer mix, complete with docked tail. We estimate him to be around 7, maybe a bit more. He appears to be completely blind, with one eye totally clouded over. He is an absolute doll, and is SO eager to take treats from you. His little nub tail wags and he sits so pretty for a snack. I have VERY limited time to get him out. Will anyone help me help him?

6 yr old blind shelty mix (columbus/johnstown)

we have a 6 year old shelty mix. we think he is mixed with border collie . he was wonderful with our three children. this month we came home and he was very disoriented. we think he may of had a stroke. he is definetely blind now which throws his balance off a bit but other than that he is acting fine. he is not playful anymore. he is too scared to run around for fear of running into the walls. he does walk around the house though and he can still find his food and water just fine. he eats nomal healthy meals and still uses he bathroom outside with no trouble. we have two other dogs and our children are still young an active. Cody is very unhappy here with all the quick movements going on around him. we think he would do best in a quite home with no kids or other dogs. he loves the company of the cat though. he needs someone who will be pateint and reassure him. it will be difficult becuase he wil have to learn your house and where the furniture is. i dont think he will ever be very good for walks. but he really does still like to go outside and walk around in the yard and then lay down. he does not bark or bite. cody would be great for an older person even because he does not jump or run away.please text 614-886-3185.

URGENT!! NC, Eden "Mcgoo" Blind Lab X

McGoo is from the Humane Society in Eden, NC. http://rockinghamcountyhumanesociety.org/home

Last week McGoo escaped from his 10x10 run in the middle of the night and got rolled by a car. He is fine, but has some scrapes. My vet gave me some pills and a cream for his sores, and he will be fine. Unfortunately this has put us in a difficult situation. McGoo is too big for the indoor runs at the humane society, so he has to be outside, but he gets so frantic in the small runs he gets out. Right now he is staying with my elderly mother who has a big back yard with lots of bushes & trees, and he seems happy, but he keeps tripping her, and he can’t stay there anymore either.
I’m trying to keep him at mom’s house as long as possible, but if she keeps getting knocked over he’ll have to go back to the Humane Society and take his chances there, but I’ve taken him on as my personal project.

I am attaching some photos of this sweet boy. He really is about the sweetest dog you could ever meet. I will bring him up to PA or NY if I have to if that is what it takes to get him in a home that is ready to handle him. I’m afraid if he gets put back even in another small run he will get bored and find his way out looking for someone to play with. He might not be so lucky the next time he gets hit.

McGoo is a young adult (2-3), about 35 lbs, kind of short & long. Hound or lab mix. I am sending him to get neutered on September 6th, and he will also get his rabies shot. Gets along with everyone.

DO NOT call and say you are adopting unless you are going to go down there and get the dog. It is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone, for someone to purposely not show up? They need every free second of their time to process Lost and Found checks and care for the animals. Not to mention people will think the dogs is safe and then they die. GA, Cochran Deaf Am Bulldog

This is Chase a 10 month old AM. Bulldog. Chase is deaf. He is good with other dogs and kids. Chase is housebroken and in need of a rescue with a foster home. He is currently at our facility and because of his special need would do much better in a foster home based environment. Chase is fully vetted, including all vaccinations, neuter and microchip. He was originally adopted from our facility, but the family had no other pets and Chase was showing signs of anxiety when left alone. He previously was in home with two other dogs and showed no signs of anxiety with the other dogs in the home.

SAFE!! XX URGENT!! VA, Martinsville "Charles" Blind Senior Aussie PTS Date 9/2

Meet CHARLES!

at the County Pound

7 - 8 year old male Australian Shepherd. Stray - No signs of aggression - Does fairly well on leash - Approximately 25 - 30 pounds. Scheduled for Euthanasia 9-02-11.

Charles (as in Ray) is a blind Aussie that was picked up while he was having a walkabout. He's probably been out for quite a while and this sweet boy appreciates every kindness shown to him. He is able to see some light, as he perked up when the camera flash went off. He can smell the chicken jerky quite readily and enjoys his treats immensely! We want to give Charles a chance at living out his retirement in a loving home instead of imminent death.... besides, Charles said to tell you that he's afraid of needles.

Immediate Call To Action: These dogs are being held at the Henry County Animal Control and Martinsville City Pound; they desperately need your help.

We would greatly appreciate a donation to help cover the vet costs. Each animal will be s/n, shots, rabies, bordetella, heartworm, rabies, fecal and health certificate. Animals either need to be transferred in purchased crates, or we will loan out crates that either must be purchased or returned to the Martinsville-Henry County SPCA.

She loves people and she does just fine getting around the play yard; no matter how little she can see. She is about 9-10 years old (estimation).

Like i said; she is overweight, but that doesn't seem to hold her back either...

The whole staff is madly in love with this dog. We are tight on space and being that she is an older gal;her situation is that much more serious. I have contacted rescue in our state, but they are full as can be...

URGENT! WA, Tacoma 2-year-old Deaf Pit Bull

I live in Washington state and help rescue dogs. I have a pit bull in need of a rescue. The family came on to hard times this month. Apollo's family have to give him up and by the end of the month.

Here is Apollo's family story: The husband lost his job and so they had to move into this parents house. The husband is abusive to the wife and their 3 children. He beat his wife up and she called the police and he was arrested. His family that her and the kids are staying with said that if she pressed charges that she would have to move. She feels she has to because abuse is getting worse and she fears for her and children's safety. So she has to move by the end of the month and the reason she can not keep him is because she works, is going to school, and raising 3 children by herself. She has tried to find a place that she can afford and keep Apollo but was unable.

I have a very temporary foster home that can keep him till the middle of Sept. then I do not have a place for him after that. The shelter in our town does not adopt pit bulls let alone a deaf one. I am not a rescue I just help dogs in need and usually go and talk to owners that have chained dogs to give them a better life. If there is anyway you could help Apollo I would be deeply appreciated.. I am willing to pay for transport to where ever he needs to go to say his life.

XXX URGENT!! NC, Winston-Salem "Flower" Deaf PBT

My name is Lissa Stiles. Flower wandered into our care back in April. I've had her since late April. I and Stokes County Humane Society can't do what she needs, so we are looking to get her into a better situation (see below). We've been cross-posting for months and I've been contacting anyone I can think of to try and get this wonderful girl into a good home, but I/we have had no luck moving her.
We have come to that awful place in making a decision.. because this limbo isn't good her, or me, or my special needs daughter, or my three dogs, or the other SCHS foster I have. I recently picked up another part time job so this is only going to get more difficult for all involved.
I can bring her to you in Roanoke, the SCHS Director will send a year's worth of Heartgard, and we'll donate a few bags of food as well. All we want is for Flower to have a fair shot at living which we know we can't provide.

XX URGENT!! CT, (city unknown): "Mia", Blind Puggle

I just found out my 7yr. puggle has SARDS, I'm devastated and don't know what to to. I'm 5 months pregnant now and have a 5yr old and a 19 month old that take up a lot of my time. The vet told me to keep her in a small space so she won't fall down my stairs or hurt herself, she was always such a puppy at heart and now I feel she is scared to death. She needs a lot of love and time that I can't give her right now and I feel awful. She was my first baby and I can't bare that now more than ever she needs my time and I can't give it to her. Im due the beginning of Dec. and having a c-section which will be even more of a struggle. If I had help I would never think of giving her away, but it's just me, my husband unfortunately doesn't have a 9-5 job he works everyday all day and winters are awful sometimes he out 2-4 days straight. If you have any advise or can help in anyway please let me know.

Her name is Mia and it's only been a month that she was diagnosed, she is great with all animals and children, she doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She was due for shots this month but the vet said to wait awhile with all she was going through, I can take care of that. She is 28 pounds and the most lovable dog I've ever had, that's why this is so hard for me to do.

SAFE!!URGENT!! NY, Jamestown "Bubba" Blind Lab Puppy

I am writing to you seeking help with an 8 month old male yellow lab that came into our shelter. The owners brought him in to be euthanized because he is blind and they are moving and can’t take him with. We convinced them to let us try to find rescue for him. He is a sweet boy, good with other dogs. Our vet seems to think that he might be able to see some light/dark. We will make sure that he is neutered, has his DAPP, bordetella and rabies vaccines and is microchipped prior to leaving. I have attached a couple of pictures of “Bubba” for you.

STILL URGENT!! FL, Myakka City: "Keeto" Blind Golden/Ridgeback

8/24/11 UPDATE: STILL URGENT!!

KEETO IS BLIND. Back coat very sparse-reported reaction to use of diatomaceous earth as flea preventive. Large sebaceous tumor right front chest. Smaller tumor inside left front leg. Keeto has reportedly bitten three times prior to his arrival at BUDDIES. Keeto has an identifying tattoo that may have been required by a finding of “Dangerous Dog” due to bite history, but the jurisdiction was not known to Keith. Keeto is blind with cloudy, unreactive eyes. Keeto did allow full handling and walked willingly on leash. Keeto is, apart from his blindness, aware of his surroundings. While carefully either speaking to Keeto before physical contact or softly touching him to let him know where I was he was easy going on lead and gave no difficulty. He was responsive to leash guidance. Keeto showed no food aggression, taking both low- and high-value treats easily. Due to his blindness Keeto will need a person knowledgeable in dealing with sight impaired large dogs to be successful. The owner will have to be certain that Keeto either hears them or smells them and is gently alerted by soft touch to prevent an unintended response. Buddies Rescue in FL is closing and he has not where to go!

Buddies Rescue of Florida has until 7/29 to become compliant (per code enforcement) with $15,000 in impact fees and permits...if they cannot accomplish this, they will have to close and more than 40 dogs will then be homeless and their fate most likely going to AC (with our fear of their being pts)! PLEASE SHARE THEM WITH URGENCY!!! *** $200 +possibly more in sponsorship from the lovely Cassandre Miller*** This very special senior boy is Keeto! He is a blind 12 y/o Golden/Ridgeback mix weighing in at 100+ lbs!! He is a little shy and, considering his age he likes to spend most of his time lounging around. He would be the perfect "couch potato" to share your days and nights with, never asking for more than a reassuring pat on the head. Keeto really needs to live out his remaining time in a home not in a rescue or in a cage. Please consider giving him an option! We have been told that Keeto "couldn't care less aboout other dogs, he's too old just wants to relax!" PLEASE OPEN UP YOUR HEART & HOME TO HIM!!! Experienced Handler or Rescue Placement Weight: Approx 115lbs Neutered HW Status: Negative Parasites negative For more information please email the BUDDIES Adoption Coordinator at BuddiesRescueAdoptions@yahoo.com ... They are located at: 6209 Juel Gill Road, Myakka City, FL 34251 Assistance may be available with transportation. All dogs have current rabies vaccines and shall be vetted prior to placement (to include fecal floats & heartworm tests).

URGENT!! SC, Chesterfield County. Lethal Catahoula - Possibly Deaf

There is a lethal catahoula girl Chesterfield County, SC. For those of y'all who don't know, this was the shelter who got caught using dogs as target practice to clean the shelters out, instead of euthanizing them humanely because they sold the euth drugs to the local gangsters. Apparently this shelter is extremely corrupt, and there is a group (a woman, really), in NY who organizes mass pulls and transports dogs to the north when she can. Sophie was pulled from the shelter when the local sheriff threatened to kill all the dogs over the weekend, but now she is living outside in a pen with loads of other dogs on someone's property who didn't want the dogs to die, but really doesn't have the means to take care of them.

Honestly, I don't know anything about this girl other than she needs help. She's good with other dogs apparently, and people, but I can't tell you if she's deaf or blind at all. I would imagine some deafness, but I can't be sure.

Please crosspost! If the person who has her has to send her back to the shelter, she will certainly die. And while she's taking up space in the outside pen, more dogs are dying in the shelter every day.

If you are interested, email me at indigoaussie@gmail.com,and I will put you in touch with who is fostering her.

SC, West Columbia: "Alabama", Deaf Spaniel mix Puppy

GENDER Female
AGE Puppy
SIZE Large

Description

The O'Patty Pups look cute and innocent in these photos but that's only because they had just been scolded for knocking over the trash can and spreading the contents everywhere! They are curious little trouble makers ... pretty much normal 12 week old puppies. When they aren't being naughty, they are sweet and cuddly .... and always a handful.

Update

The larger male pup has been adopted. The smaller female pup has been determined to be almost totally deaf. This is the only reason this lovely girl has not been adopted. Raising a deaf puppy can be a challenge but is not as difficult as you might think.

Alabama an 8 month old spaniel mix who came to our shelter as a puppy. She was released with her mother and siblings, all of which have their hearing. Unfortunately she is deaf, she has grown up in our kennels and we are trying desperately to get her placed. She is not at risk or being put to sleep but she is quickly growing and we hate seeing her live in our kennels.

SAFE!! PTS Date 8/26 GA, Athens Blind Senior Poodle

Oh my gosh, an abandoned mini poodle found in a carrier on the side of a highway in the south!!! Who knows how long she was there - in the heat - in the rain!!! Cataracts in left eye, no teeth, rubber band imbedded in her leg...The Intake email doesn't indicate which Athens, but according to the area code, it's in Georgia... They are giving this precious little girl UNTIL THE END OF THE WEEK and then they will euthanize.
I am a vet tech at a veterinarian in the Athens area. Four evenings ago someone found a miniature poodle in a carrier on the side of the highway and brought her to our clinic. She was very overheated, unable to see due to immense matts of hair over her eyes, and unable to walk on one leg because there was a rubber band imbedded all the way through the skin on her leg. Once we got through the matts, we discovered she has cataracts in her left eye but the other eye can see relatively well. She has a severe overbite due to the lack of a lower mandible and she is completely toothless. Despite these things, she seems to have no problem eating canned food. It is unknown how long she was in the carrier on the highway or what her life was like prior to this incident. We checked her for a microchip but there was none. She is underweight, at 3.6 lbs. but is eating well and will hopefully gain more strength each day.

My veterinarian described her as a geriatric poodle, most likely in her teens. She has chronic eye problems, cataracts in her left eye, possible dry eye or chronic conjunctivitis. Her leg where the rubber band was placed seems to be healing well she was on Tramadol for pain but is doing fine without it now. She is on Calvamox for the wound on her leg as well. Her heart sounds good and she does not have a heart murmur.

We have cared for her the best we can but it is clear that she would not stand a chance of adoption at the county animal shelter. She is in rough shape now but can get around fine even with her blindness, she hears very well. Within the last two days she has recovered so much that she can bear full weight on her injured leg and walks around completely normal. She is very gentle and cuddly, comes when called and has not has only had one accident in my house since I've taken care of her. She seems to have been house-trained at one time in her life because she goes to the bathroom immediately when taken outside.

She has a great disposition, she craves attention and affection and is most content when she is sitting in someones lap or being held. The only time she has shown any negative behavior is when we were getting the matts out of her fur which is to be expected. I introduced her to my 10 month old, 55 pound Basenji mix and she gets along with him fine unless he gets too playful. She is such a sweet dog and deserves a chance at living in a loving environment. Its amazing that she is so kind and forgiving after the kind of life she seems to have had.

If I cannot find somewhere to take her by the end of the week, we will have to euthanize her. Please let me know as soon as possible if she is a dog that could fit in with your rescue program. I am only a student but could help with a donation for her care if needed to the best of my ability. I would love to take her into my home but between my roommate and I we have two young puppies at our house who are too rambunctious for this small of a dog.

Please contact me as soon as possible if there are any opportunities in your rescue program or if you know of any others who may be able to save this sweet girl.

SAFE!! XXX URGENT!! FL, Sebring 1 eyed PBT w cut off ears & mange puppy

Look at this most unlikely pair.....an adult male pit who obviously has had a most miserable life mothering a baby mange dog - even allowing the baby to eat out of his bucket. This poor fatherly figure even after having his ears cut off and one of his eyes gouged out with just an infected hole left still has love in his heart. The sad part is that no one will even think of giving this most honorable dog a second look let alone a second chance to become the pet he was meant to be....talk about a diamond in the rough! And this poor mange baby....how can you leave a baby so unattended that he have mange......two suffering souls. This is too heartbreaking.....way too sad! What a sorry testament to the "humans" (and I use that word very loosely) who had control over these two lives
