SAFE!! TN, Kingsport "Michael" Blind Chow/Lab X

Here is loving Michael, a chow mix found outside a woman's house in Kingsport, TN....poor Michael is blind in one eye and has little vision in the other eye....he is in need of a rescue or better yet a forever home....He is neutered and utd on his shots....
I had a stray dog come to my house about 2 weeks ago. He is completely blind in one eye and sees very little out of the other. He is about 8 months old, a chow cross, at about 57lbs. I had him neutered and his shots; and, right now he is at the local shelter to see if he can get a home. Would you be able to offer him a chance at a home? He is very loving. I call him Michael.

SAFE!! URGENT!! CA, Camarillo: "Olivia", Blind Labradoodle

BLIND (VISION IMPAIRED), SCARED, SAD LABRADOODLE IN DANGER IN CAMARILLO SHELTER AFTER BEING A PET HER WHOLE LIFE. PLEASE HELP.

OLIVIA - IMPOUND ID #A523162 - Camarillo Shelter - Phone: 805-388-4341, Address: 600 Aviation Dr., Camarillo, CA 93010

This is from an email plea:
This was a special request by Camarillo shelter staff to network this blind senior labradoodle girl. I met her, she seems fairly 'vision impaired', seems also very sad and somewhat defeated. She also seems to have some weakness in her hind legs, she walks ok but slowly... Also, probably in a shock being at the shelter after being someone's cherished pet her whole life. I don't think she weighs 64 lbs... I'd expect not more than 40 lbs. She is fairly small... Someone (possibly her former person given this is an elder care facility) is paying half of her adoption fee. She would be a sweet companion for an older person who would like to sit with an older dog in his / her lap and just enjoy being together.

Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
This sweet girl has some blindness and needs a special home. Half of her adoption fee is being sponsored by La Casa Julotta of Moorpark

TN, Franklin "Maddy" Blind Hound X

MADDY is a special favorite of the shelter staff and volunteers who care for her every day. She is a calm, friendly and gentle Airedale/Hound mix and is two years old. Maddy is our shelter sweetheart! She is very well-mannered and loves to be at your side on daily walks. Maddy is housebroken, too. She is a playful dog whose agility is a joy to watch on her daily outings in the yard. Most of all, Maddy enjoys attention and affection. She will stand up on her back legs to be hugged and give doggy kisses and has such a loving heart. Maddy is truly one of the kindest and most devoted dogs we have ever seen! She would do best as an only dog or with a male dog.

Maddy is heartworm positive and will be treated at Animal Control once she is rescued. She is spayed, wormed, microchipped and current on her distemper/parvo, kennel cough and rabies vaccinations.

It is hard to convey in words just how special our Maddy is. We all love her so much! Please crosspost near and far on her behalf to find the home she needs and deserves. PULL FEE PAID! She will be the most loyal and devoted family companion anyone could want!

NJ, Bloomingdale "Charlie" Blind English Spaniel

FUN FACTS:

This very sweet English Spaniel senses you are there to show his friendly ways. Charlie will win your heart with his cute eyes and wagging tail. Although this pooch is blind, he can sense love and is looking for a good home.

Here is some more information about Charlie:

Age: between three and four years old

Sex: male

Breed: English Spaniel

Training: Does not go in his cage.

Socialization: Social, but needs special attention.

Why your tail should wag over Charlie: Charlie is a charmer! Although he is blind, he is
very sweet. His neck is still a bit raw, the shelter is working on getting him back to better health. He is ready for someone who will give him some love and a nice place to cuddle.

PA, West Chester "Bailey" Blind Collie X

Here's Bailey, a senior spitz/collie mix from West Chester, PA. She was an owner turn-in at the SPCA. Her companion has been adopted, but not her! She misses her home and companion!

http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/19627911

My name is Kaity Dempsey and I am a Foster/Rescue Coordinator from the Chester County SPCA. Our shelter is currently going under construction. Bailey is an older Spitz/Collie mix girl, who was a surrender, whose owner said that she had once had a stroke and now has a head tilt because of it. Her eye sight was also affected by this. I don't believe Bailey is completely blind, but she does definitely have a lot of difficulty seeing and will need an experienced owner to "show her the ropes around the house." Bailey is housebroken and also gets along very well with other animals, as she has lived with an older companion for years now. Sadly, Buddy, her Lab companion, was just adopted a few days ago and now Bailey is really missing him. Bailey is a very quiet, sweet and gentle girl, who is very much in need!! Because of her quiet nature and her trouble seeing, the fast movements of young children make her nervous. Is there any way you may have space for her?

From her webpage: I am here with my friend Buddy. We were brought to the shelter to find a new for ever home because our previous owner was losing their home and no where to keep up. I am about 13 years old. I am very cute and my head tilts and that is just part of my charm. I still have a lot of energy and love being with people. Please meet with me.

XXX URGENT!! PA, West Chester "Daffy" Senior Blind Lab

Daffy is in rescue and is looking for a new foster/permanent home...please crosspost! She is spayed and good with other dogs. Must have a new home by June 7th!!

Where do I begin to tell the story of how great a lab can be? Well, at the beginning- or at least since we have known Daffy. This absolutely lovely girl was dumped at the shelter and was just about the saddest creature we had ever seen. Then her luck changed- and Daffy went to a wonderful foster home where she had another blind yellow female lab (what are the odds???) to spend time with.

Sadly, although her foster parents love her dearly, they are not able to keep Daffy as they had hoped. So with heavy hearts but boundless optimism, we are looking for a new home (preferably permanent) for Daffy by June 7.

Blind dogs are like seeing dogs- except, well, they don't see. But because they're dogs, they don't need canes or books on tape or braille materials...but they do need patience, furniture that doesn't get rearranged often, and a seeing eye dog, if available. Daffy is used to living with other dogs- and would like a gentle, sweet friend to show her the ropes in her new home. An adult home that is relatively quiet and is one floor would be best.

So.....if you can give Daffy- the girl who is named after a sunny and cheerful flower- a home, please let us know ASAP. She is about 11, spayed, healthy, and in good shape- and being blind doesn't bother her- so don't let it bother you.

Special dogs require special people- and we know that there are so many of you! Please think about Daffy- and how wonderful it would be to love her and let her know that she will be safe forvever with you........after all, isn't that what we all want- to feel safe, loved, wanted?

Application (atpar.org), adoption fee, and home visit required. Thanks for spending some time tihinking about Daffy. WOOF

GA, Marietta "Bear" possibly hearing impaired Black Lab

Unfortunately Bear has started to get agitated by some of the other dogs in the foster home and has gone after a couple of them within the last week. We know that it is due to change in the home as he has a hard time acclimating to other foster dogs coming and going. We need to move Bear out of that home, and we honestly have nowhere for him to go.

We have had testing done for Bear to rule out any illness that could be causing his increasing restlessness around other dogs. We believe that he might also be losing his hearing, so now he does not know that they are there until they bump into him which startles him and causes him to become aggressive.

We need to find a foster or adoptive home for him where he will be the only dog and not have to deal with alot of change around him. Any ideas? I am afraid that we are running out of options.

He is a wonderful boy, just not a fan of lots of change! Please let me know whatever you need from me........I am attaching photos of Bear. He currently weighs 66 lbs.

Bear is fine with the other dogs in the foster home most of the time, he just gets upset when the tussle or play and get in his space. He would be fine with the right canine partner. All of our foster homes have multiple seniors of all sizes, so we really need to find Bear a wonderful forever home!

He is currently being fostered near Marietta, GA, but we will transport him anywhere to an approved home.

URGENT!! TX, Austin "CHULA" Blind Spaniel

Chula used to be an inside dog!! She was dumped outside when she got older, got glaucoma, and the owners got a new puppy!! A nice person would see her staring out into the street each morning on her way to work and finally began stopping to give her fresh food and water every day because she never had any. This person (Ashley) is 8 months pregnant, has three other dogs and cannot keep Chula but she got the owners to give her up anyway and then contacted me for help!! Chula has been living amongst trash for two years and nobody pays any attention to her. She LOVES people and she really needs a home where someone will love her back. Even her previous owners said she is a lonely dog but that they are too busy with the new puppy to spend time with her!!

Chula is 9 yrs. old, spayed and house-trained…although she has been living outside for two years now. Ashley is taking her to the vet and will get her up to date on all vaccines. She just needs someone to give this sweet senior girl a home so she will know what it feels like to be loved again!! If you can ADOPT please contact me and I will put you in touch with Ashley!! I do not have much time. Ashley is 8 months pregnant and cannot hang onto Chula very long. She has stepped out on a limb to help this sweet little dog so I’m hoping there will be someone out there who can step up and give little Chula a home!! CHULA IS IN AUSTIN , TEXAS . We have no way to transport out of state so Texas adopters only please.

also, we are doing low-cost/shared expenses transports based out of Arlington, TX and can help with transporting this poor girl to most areas of the country. we have denver, co and two transports to PA scheduled for June and July.

WA, Kent "PARKER" Blind/Part Deaf PBT

Parker

Pit Bull Terrier: An adoptable dog in Kent, WA
Medium • Young • Male

Hi, my name is "Parker" and I'm at the King County Animal Care and Control shelter in Kent waiting for a new home. You can also find me by my ID #A059070. I am a very playful and happy guy. Because of my energy level, I would do best with kids at least 12 or older. I get along great with adults and love going for walks. I chase after a tennis ball, but I don't bring it back. I am learning to sit on command and walk well on a leash. I would love to go to a home where I'll get lots of playtime and exercise. I'm only about 7 months old, so I am still a puppy and need training and patience from my new family. If you have the time and energy for me, I'll give you lots of love in return! The folks at the shelter think I may have some hearing and vision issues. I can get easily startled by someone coming up from behind me and sometimes don't see things off to the side of me. I have been adopted before,...

I have been adopted before, but the family had small children who tackled me from behind and I didn't care for that at all. As a result, I don't care for small children. I am willing and happy to play with older kids or adults who will stay in front of me where I can see them. Please come and see me today! I volunteer at the Regional Animal Services of King County shelter. We currently have a 9 month old
pit bull dog named Parker looking for a home. A friend, Andrea Burke who works with the Humane
Society there in Montana referred me to you. I have given your info to our shelter placement staff,
but they are super busy so I wanted to contact you myself to help facilitate his move, if possible.

I would like to bring him to you to help place him, as you have experience with special needs
guys like him. If that isn't possible, maybe you know of someone here on the coast who can take him
or help us find the perfect home for him. I will volunteer the time and cost of transport if he can come.

You can see his photo and bio on www.petfinder.com, search by name or his # AO59070.
I walk him and he has a great, loving personality. He is energetic, but not aggressive.
He does well on leash, will sit for treats as long as he can see you. You have to be right up in front of him.
This boy has really stolen my heart, but I have three Aussie Cattle dogs of my own, and can't take on
another dog (in fairness to them).

He's been adopted and returned, so he really needs a good stable home where the right person
could help him thrive.

Looking for help for this Westie
Joy, Volunteer

I was able to talk with the shelter today. This dog is at risk of PTS Tuesday, May 31. It appears to be a Westie mix. One ear is upright and pointed but the other falls forward. It's coloring isn't quite white, but the shelter rep said the dog is very dirty. The dog has cataracts and is nearly blind. It came in as a stray and is standoffish/frightened. It is considered unadoptable.

Risk of PTS: Tuesday, May 31
Sex: Male
Age: about 2-3 years
Weight: 20 lbs.
Stray with no shelter vetting
Temperament: shy and frightened
Pulling requirements: must be a rescue registered with Stark County in order to pull from the shelter. The HS pulls from the shelter regularly and the shelter rep advised to contact them 704-983-7729.

IA, Cedar Rapids: "Dandy" and "Hershey", Visually Impaired Retriever mixes

Dandy (above)
Hershey (below)

Please see below about Dandy and Hershey...Hershey does not have a photo yet but I'll forward as soon as I receive it...Dandy is in foster care in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Hello,
My name is Jana Crane and I am a volunteer for the Cedar Rapids Animal
shelter in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
In February our shelter seized 35 dogs from a home that were being kept in
unclean surroundings by a woman that has had over 300 animals taken from her
since 1997.
She has finally gone to trial and has surrendered the animals to the
shelter. She got off with a slap on the wrist and minimal fines.

Most of the animals have been adopted however we have two litter mates that
are blind or visually impaired.

One is Dandy:
Meet a very special girl! Dandy is a gorgeous 9 month old pup who is full of
wiggles and love! You would never know it, but Dandy is blind. Don't feel
sorry for her. She is an otherwise normal pup and relies on her super -sharp
senses to compensate for this disability. Visually impaired dogs rely on
"mapping". They quickly memorize the traffic patterns in their home-
furniture, steps, yard, water bowl- you name it. Once this has occurred, you
would be hard pressed to even notice the disability. Dandy was named by her
foster mom because she loves dandelions! Dandy will benefit from having
another dog in her new family to help her in the mapping process. This
deserving girl might not be perfect, buts she is absolute perfection in
everything that matters in life.

Her littermate brother is Hershey, he is chocolate and has white markings,
I will send a picture of him as soon as I have my friend who works at the
shelter send them to me. He too is the sweetest boy and very happy. His
head also tilts to one side and we think he is visually impaired as well.
He has an appointment with my vet to see what is wrong and what if anything
can be done for him.

Do you have any room for either of these two very special and beautiful
“kids”???

8+ y/o partially blind/deaf former bait dog needs rescue

I was contacted by someone who rescued a brindle pitbull 6 yrs ago from a pit ring in Charleston. She was found terrified hiding under the house, she had been beaten and used as a bait dog. He can no longer keep her and wants me to find somewhere for her to go. Poor girl she is losing her sight and has been deaf. She is a nice people dog but is now beginning to show aggression toward other dogs, no doubt fears and bad memories. I have personally met her and she is a nice girl and would be perfectly content to sit on the couch with occasional potty breaks. She knows hand signals but alas it is not going to help much. I have told him to NOT put her in the paper or craigslist, I have emailed all the sanctuaries and pitbull rescues I know. He is so busy and never home and she is in a small pen alone. If anyone can help please let me know and I will give you his contact information. Harley is her name and she is located in Lancaster SC. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Suzie is a 9 year old beagle/ basset hound mix, she is super friendly, potty trained, walks well on a leash, is easy to give a bath, and is just a great girl, Suzie has no eyes due to glaucoma, but that does not slow this girl down, she is quite the happy pup and not nervous because of her condition. We took Suzie in about a year ago and she has been a blessing, my daughter has aparantly hurt her and she bit her. We are having to find Suzie a new home that will love her just as much as we have. I will suggest no small children because of what happened, but Suzie has always loved playing with my daughter. She is great with other dogs, I have never seen her around cats, so I can't really say either way on them. Suzie is free to a great home who will take good care of her and love her.
