This cat is a total sweetheart, that came in as a stray today.
Per Dr. Ridgway, The cat has microphthalmia which is abnormally small eyes. The eyes do not fill the eye sockets. This causes the eye lids to roll in on to the eye and rub on the small eye ball cornea which adds to eye discharge which is primarily due to presence of microphthalmia. There is nothing that can be done for this syndrome other than to remove the eyes reduce the tear production portion of the eye lids and sew the eyes shut. The cat is blind.

ReplyDeleteStar was rescued via a dog rescue group from the Orlando shelter today. I have put in a call and an email to this dog rescue group to see if she still needs a permanent home -- I am able to give her one if she still needs it. Wishing her all the best.
