VA, Moneta "Anahola" Deaf boxer/lab X puppy

I just drove 64 miles to meet this sweet little girl. She is in Moneta VA and she is a 7 month old white boxer and lab mix. She is deaf and she is being boarded at a Vet Clinic because her owner is being treated in a medical facility. The owner’s mom called me and I went to visit this little sweet girl at the Vet’s office. She has been in a crate at the Vet’s office for a week so you can imagine how excited she was to see me. She is 100% puppy.

Her personality is that of a boxer- lab mix. She is just happy and high energy. She has not been trained and she is completely deaf. I spent a total of 10 minutes with this little girl and taught her to sit and lie down. By the third “lay down” command I decided to ask her for a “roll over” and she did it right away (this blows my mind because I can’t get Nitro to roll over to save my life)!!! She is very smart. She would make an amazing agility dog because she was watching me and she has a lot of energy. She is not crate trained but they are taking her out every two hours. I have asked the owner to do a UTI test to make sure she doesn’t have a Urinary Tract Infection. Nitro had one when I got him and I could not figure out why he was having accidents in his crate. So she will have the Vet check for a UTI. It could be that the owner did not spend time crate training so who ever fosters or adopts this dog will have to start with crate training first.

Because this puppy is deaf she will need a family with a secure fenced yard. Also because she is still young and needs to have someone who is really serious about teaching her the sign commands it would be better if she went to a family with older children.

If you have always wanted a super smart puppy with the best of both breeds and the challenge of training a deaf dog, she might be the perfect dog for you.
They told me her name and I think it is Anahola but I could be wrong. Because she is deaf she doesn’t know her name yet anyway so you could name her whatever you want.

They also told me that she was a Boxer Pit mix but she doesn’t have any Pit characteristics what so ever. She has coloring of a white boxer and the coat and tail of a yellow lab (short, thick and soft). She acts exactly like all the Lab puppies in all my levels classes and her head is shaped like a Lab mix.

If you are interested in meeting and foster this little girl or if you want to give her a loving and patient forever home,
