SAFE!!URGENT! FL, Lynn Haven, "Peaches" Blind bulldog/boxer puppy

This sweet little girl is Peaches. She is a bulldog/boxer mix puppy who is blind. The vet has accessed her as being blind from birth. Peaches is in the Lynn Haven Animal Control Shelter in Lynn Haven, FL. This very endearing little girl is in urgent need of rescue/adoption. Below is the message her foster mother writes about her. I also got a chance today to speak with Renee' about Peaches. She is a sweetheart and got along excellently with the two resident maltese's. In fact they actually have a hide and seek game the dogs all figured out while playing together which Renee' described and it sounded so cute. Please take a moment to read the message and view the pictures of Peaches. We do not know how long this little girl has at the shelter so let's try to find her rescue or better yet her forever home now.

My name is Renee’, I am the office manager at the veterinary office, Pet Health Center of Lynn Haven. The reason I am writing is to ask for help in placing a dog with special needs who is totally blind. She is a small English bulldog-Boxer type mix, about 26 lb puppy, now about 6 months old. She was taken in by the Lynn Haven Animal Control around September 19th and is still at the shelter. They brought her in for exam and Dr. Laroux assessed she was blind from birth most likely congenital. At the time I saw her and could tell she was extremely perceptive, intelligent and very good natured.

I went to the shelter Sept 20th, spent some time visiting and offered to foster her hoping to place her. I kept her quarantined from my other animals (2 dogs, 3 cats) for 10 days and worked with her during that time. She responded very well, very social, happy and although blind she is very active outside, playful and adapts extremely well. She has also recently received her 2nd DHLPP, Rabies and Bordatella heartworm and flea control.

After keeping her for about three weeks, I returned her to the Lynn Haven Animal Control (10/11/11). I spoke to the director (Ramona) who said they would try to place her and I requested time to make other arrangements for her.

I am writing for any possible assistance you may have available. I would be more than happy to pick her up and transport her to any location. I would also sponsor her spay which she is due to have two to three weeks from now. I have made a bullet list I will include:

  • I will sponsor spay

  • Has had 2nd Distemper series, Rabies and Bordatella

  • Has had flea and heartworm prevention

  • Has been quickly house trained

  • Very happy, very well adjusted, contented to sit in crate

  • Loves other dogs, cats and people

  • Will be perfect for obedience training, does not let her blindness interfere in any way Very intelligent, listens well and perceptive to sound

  • Loves to play with plastic water bottles, fetches by sound
