Needs new, quieter foster home! ATPAR will pay medical while she's in foster.
Lovely Lacie was rescued at the 11th hour from a high-kill shelter. This poor darling was a stray- which is horrible enough for a sighted dog……imagine how frightened she was. Someone brought her to the shelter and that wasn’t much better……….noisy, smelly, and lots of strange hands touching her. But Lacie toughed it out. Then the shelter people decided that a blind Chihuahua wasn’t worth saving (and they didn’t even know she was a girl!) so they put her on the euthanization (code for murder) list and the clock starting ticking. Fortunately her story and picture got out, and Lacie came to rescue.
ATPAR has had Lacie for almost a month – and we have taken her to the vet. Her sight can be restored- but not right now because she has a grade 4 heart murmur- and surgery would be dangerous. We are saving money for an ultrasound-which will provide a lot of needed information. But she gets around in her foster’s home- and can even go up stairs (as long as they are carpeted). Lacie is fine with the resident dogs and cats too. In fact, Lacie is pretty normal for a Chihuahua except she is blind
Lacie needs a new foster where there is less commotion and someone home at least part of the day. Her current fosters have a busy household and cannot give Lacie the time she needs and deserves. ATPAR will pay for all of her medical care-so no worries there.
So who is willing to give a pretty, sweet, blind girl love, attention, and a warm lap (she loves laps- and not the kind you swim!). We are hoping to find this home soon………..so please share Lacie with everyone. She isnot spayed (because she cannot be at this time), but is current on shots andhousetrained (you have to take her out and she will go). Chihuahuas are little dogs with big personalities-and Lacie is typical of her breed………..she does not let blindness keep her from being who she is! Lacie is a fun, fabulous 2 yr old female who weighs about 7 pounds.
Fosters/adopters must complete our application at atpar.org. We will check all references-so please make sure to provide us with complete information- including phone numbers.
