SAFE!!XXX Urgent!! OH, Canton "Samuel" Blind Senior GSD X

At Stark County Dog Pound
Blind Samuel just came into this high-kill pound in Canton, OH. He will be held 3 days for his owners to possibly redeem him. However, this pound is almost always full. If he is not redeemed, he will need immediate rescue.

From his Petfinder page: Samuel, another heartbreaker! Samuel is an older dog, completely blind, but thankfully he can hear okay. I noticed he lifted his his head every time a nearby train blew its whistle. Maybe Samuel lived near tracks? He hasn't had the best of care, his coat was nothing but mats, and prickly burrs. After being groomed by volunteers and having a bath, he looks much better. Samuel bumps into a few things, but is quickly learning where to step. He knows to come to the gate when called, and was given some well deserved treats, which he loved! How frightening it must be for him, to suddenly be in a strange environment, all new smells and sounds. Having had a blind dog, I know that this is a handicap, but by no means, does it keep a dog from being a wonderful, loyal companion. He has a gentle, kind soul, and I am humbled by his spirit. If someone with compassion in their heart, and a fenced in yard, could give Samuel a home to live out his remaining years, I know you wouldn't be sorry. Picked up as a stray on 9/2. Blind
