My name is Lauren Caldwell and I am the Animal Programs Coordinator for the Humane Society for Hamilton County. We currently have a beautiful white 3 year old intact American Pit Bull Terrier Mix female. Star was an owner surrender to us in May of 2011 because her owner could no longer care for her. She has been temperament tested and did wonderfully. Here is what the tester said:
"Star is a very sweet and social girl who loves to play. She allows sensitivity without issue, but pulls away from restraint. She really enjoys play tag, and she can be a little mouthy when excited. She is a little insecure, hand shy, and not sure what to think about fast movements. When I first tried to get her to play with the toys, she cowered a little. When she realized she wasn't in danger from me or the toy, she began to play, and released easily. She is gentle when taking treats and has no issues with her food bowl being touched. I was able to pick it up with my own hand while she was eating. Star would do well in an active home with older children."
Star is a sweetheart who is very treat motivated (with hot dogs.) She is very willing and eager to learn. We have been using a light (as a clicker) for her and she knows that when the light goes off, she gets a treat and/or that she has done very well! We are overfull right now. We are getting more animals in than we can get adopted out. We are trying our best, and we don't euthanize for time or space and definitely DO NOT want to have to resort to that. Here are a few pictures of "Star." Please let us know if you would be able to help us or if you could forward this on to others you know that may be able to help, we would really appreciate it! Thank you!!
