Queens, NY - Emergency!!
Blind dog used for breeding and then tied to a park bench in Brooklyn with no food or water and left to die!
A woman was recently walking in the Park Slope section of Brookyn, when she thought she heard a dog softly whimpering for help. She followed the cries until they brought her to a park bench. There she spotted a gorgeous white and brown pittie tied to the bench which could hardly stand up due to weakness. The unfortunate soul was dehydrated and starving to death. :-(
The woman approached the dog and discovered that, in addition to being the sweetest animal she ever met, this poor girl was also blind. The woman brought Jasmine to the vet, and the vet detemined that the dog could only see very limited shadows. He also believes that Jasmine was abused and neglected for quite a long time. She was still lactating a bit when she was found in the park, but there had been no puppies anywhere in sight. It is believed that this blind girl was used for breeding and then left in the park to waste away like a piece of garbage.
Jasmine is approximately 3 years old and is the most loving, affectionate dog you will ever meet. She loves loves LOVES people of a shapes, sizes, colors, ages, etc. She just cherishes time with her humans!!! Period. Jasmine is huge on belly rubs. She would rather be petted than anything else. She grunts with glee when receiving affection. This poor girl has lived her whole life without knowing a single kindness and that fact is abundantly clear. She soaks up kindness like a big walking sponge.
Jasmine's good samaritan who found her cannot bring herself to drop Jasmine off at the NYACC because there is basically a 0% chance that a 3 year old blind pittie that needs to be an only pet will ever see the light of day again. Jasmine deserves better than that fate. She is terrific with children, very easy-going, low energy, polite, gentle and so grateful to be alive. Jasmine is not happy with other dogs, though. It is possible that she was also used as a bait dog. She definitely acts afraid around other big doggies. The angel who found Jasmine has a number of other large breed dogs and Jasmine is stressed out about it. She really needs to go to a home where she can be loved on by people and not worry about other dogs.
Jasmine gets around remarkably well using her hearing and sense of smell. She doesn't play the victim at all. She makes the most out of every single moment she is alive.
The woman who found Jasmine has personally paid for her vetting. Jasmine is now spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. She is very ready for her new homes.
It is beyond urgent that we find Jasmine a rescue group (preferably with a foster home so she doesn't have to go to boarding). The woman who found her has turned her life upside down to help Jasmine, but she cannot provide the perfect life for this darling dog, as she has so many other large breed dogs and that causes Jasmine unnecessary stress.

From Maria, the good samaritan:
Jasmine is a great girl..despite her past ...she has no resource guarding issues towards humans, No separation anxiety , rarely barks but will howl at outside noises, crate trained, spayed and up to date with shots, she will gladly give you her paws to cut her nails. enjoys the company of people , especially those that give her belly rubs. I've had her for a few months to bring her back to health...
I've analyzed her behavior towards other animals...keep in mind, there's cats and dogs roaming around all the time in the house ...she has never attacked a cat but she has gone after 2 dogs ...and each time it was the same thing ...their playing until the other dog starts speed running around her and then she gets into her attack mode ...I believe it has a lot to do with her sight deteriorating ...I recently was fostering a few pups and they were licking her and what not and she didn't even growl at them....once again thank you for that you do! if you have any questions let me know
thanks,
maria
