"Shadow" is a sweet 6+ year old English Setter, rescued from an owner who refused to care for her anymore. She was most likely a well trained bird dog before she lost her sight. She is a beautiful example of the breed, bright white in color with a few orange spots.
Shadow suffers from progressive retinal atrophy, a genetic disorder common in the breed. At present, she still has some vision when outdoors in bright light and can see fast movements. At night or indoors, she is nearly blind; the veterinarian expects that she will eventually lose all her sight.
Shadow has been spayed, has all shots, is well housebroken, and is fine with other dogs. She is a dominant female, and likes to be top dog, but she is very submissive to humans and loves people.
She is very affectionate, she loves to be brushed and petted and give kisses. She is crate trained. Shadow does very well in the house, where she tends to sleep and be very quiet. Outdoors, she is like any setter...she loves to run, play, and walk. She would be the PERFECT dog for a persons or families who likes taking walks or jogs. She also would be ideal for someone who likes an affectionate dog who is quiet in the house.
Shadow cannot be trusted with small animals, cats, or poultry/parrots. She also is not good with very young children; she is not aggressive at all, but tends to be pushy and paw or "play grab" at them. Shadow is great with older kids.
