Dandy (above)Hershey (below)

Please see below about Dandy and Hershey...Hershey does not have a photo yet but I'll forward as soon as I receive it...Dandy is in foster care in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Hello,
My name is Jana Crane and I am a volunteer for the Cedar Rapids Animal
shelter in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
In February our shelter seized 35 dogs from a home that were being kept in
unclean surroundings by a woman that has had over 300 animals taken from her
since 1997.
She has finally gone to trial and has surrendered the animals to the
shelter. She got off with a slap on the wrist and minimal fines.
Most of the animals have been adopted however we have two litter mates that
are blind or visually impaired.
One is Dandy:
Meet a very special girl! Dandy is a gorgeous 9 month old pup who is full of
wiggles and love! You would never know it, but Dandy is blind. Don't feel
sorry for her. She is an otherwise normal pup and relies on her super -sharp
senses to compensate for this disability. Visually impaired dogs rely on
"mapping". They quickly memorize the traffic patterns in their home-
furniture, steps, yard, water bowl- you name it. Once this has occurred, you
would be hard pressed to even notice the disability. Dandy was named by her
foster mom because she loves dandelions! Dandy will benefit from having
another dog in her new family to help her in the mapping process. This
deserving girl might not be perfect, buts she is absolute perfection in
everything that matters in life.

Her littermate brother is Hershey, he is chocolate and has white markings,
I will send a picture of him as soon as I have my friend who works at the
shelter send them to me. He too is the sweetest boy and very happy. His
head also tilts to one side and we think he is visually impaired as well.
He has an appointment with my vet to see what is wrong and what if anything
can be done for him.
