When a Dachshund rescuer went to pick up a senior Dachsie at
Lauderdale County Animal Control in Meridian MS, she spotted this
sweet blind boy in the back.
This very sweet boy is to be euthanized TUESDAY, 13st August. Please help
him!

My name is Darby, and I'm a friendly old guy who unfortunately had to come to the shelter because my elderly family was quite ill. I have a few things going on as well, but let me tell you, it doesn't slow me down at all! I'm blind, and I'm receiving treatment for my eyes as they were getting quite irritated, so whoever is interested in me has to know that there's likely to be long-term treatment for my eyes. But as I said, being blind doesn't stop me from playing and enjoying walks and being a wonderful companion, so please come by the shelter and see me!
Back in April I contacted folks about China or Panda is how she is known now. She found a foster home on a small farm with fenced in yard that was on board to keep her for life. Unforntunately things have changed and they need to move to Fl so Panda is once again in need of a home.She is about 8 years old, spayed and gets along with the puppies at her home as well as playfully chasing the pet rabbit that she can not catch. She was HW neg. just 4 months ago so our chances are good there but I will confirm with a test. She is a very nice gal that is calm and quiet and to our knowledge without any other special needs other than wiping her eyes daily and being safely contained and supervised.We are a kill shelter located in Western Ky. but we will do our best to find this sweet deserving girl a home and give her some extra time if a plan is in place for her. BARC has a deaf male Purebred Husky. Absolutely beautiful due to be euthanized tomorrow morning, August 17th, unfortunately in less than 24 hours. The info is below and the picture is attached. Known health issues: low positive for heartworms; no other obvious health problems; has received the usual distemper, parvo, bordatella vaccines and been given ivermectin/pyrantel; will receive rabies vaccine before he leaves BARC
Special need: deaf
Temperament: No formal temperament test done, but today the dog was placed in a long, outdoor run with another dog in an adjacent run. The Husky totally ignored the other dog. Walked calmly on a leash. Walked past dogs in other kennels in close quarters and showed no interest in the other dogs. Allows people to pet every inch of his body and play with his tail without reacting. Overall impression is that this is an unusually calm, confident dog even in a kennel environment.
Other: BARC will microchip for no charge before the dog leaves the pound. BARC wasn't certain if the dog is a Malamute or a Husky, so they called it a mix of the two. It IS a Husky!
Fee: NONE! Your organization should be a 501(c)(3) and will need to complete a short registration form if not already registered with the shelter.
