OH, London - URGENT! Germaine, Shepherd mix, almost blind needs rescue

***** URGENT!! PLEASE CROSS-POST *****

URGENT!! London, OH
: Oh, wow! Please look at Germaine, an almost blind Shepherd mix, who has undergone training through a prison program. See his attached photo, and read his story below. Poor guy. If you can help him, please contact betty@madisonhumane.org or call the shelter at 740-852-7387.

The Madison County animal shelter in London Ohio is the county dog shelter operated by the humane society. We always have to have room for strays.

Germaine came to the shelter back in October as a stray. He is a shepherd mix about 5-6 years old. In the time we have had him, he has been in the prison program and done wonder. However, we have found out that he has Muscle Disease that affects the retinas. He is blind in the right eye and will be blind in the left eye in maybe a year. As this point, he had 2 strikes against him at being large and +5 yrs, but add in blind, it will make it ever harder for us to place him. He is currently sitting in our shelter which is full and we need him out now if he is to get a chance.

Germaine is good with dogs, but does not like cats. He listens very well, loves people. Germaine is completely vetted including a microchip.

Please if you are an approved rescue who can take Germaine in, let me know at betty@madisonhumane.org or call the shelter at 740-852-7387. If you are an individual who would like to adopt Germaine, please fill out an adoption application at www.hsmcohio.com.

Transportation help is available.

TN - Sullivan County - Blountville: URGENT! Rusty, senior dog to be euthanized Wednesday Feb 24

URGENT! RESCUE NEEDED NOW for Rusty, the senior beagle mix at Sullivan County in Blountville Tn.

A very sweet senior dog, Rusty needs a loving home to live out the rest of his days. Here's the news after a trip to the vet:

He has an ulcerated eye; the other volunteers got him medicine for that. He may have an irregular heartbeat. The vet said that it could be because he was nervous while being examined or it could be because he has a heart condition. One testicle is enlarged and one is atrophied. He is not neutered and with the possible heart condition, probably could not withstand any surgery.
So Rusty is not in great shape.

Basically what Rusty needs is a loving home to live out the rest of his days. The other volunteer told me that even with the above health issues, that he does seem energetic.
She told me that he is very sweet.
Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in him. Thanks!

Please help me. I am a senior male lab with limited vision and thin. This place is so loud for an old soul like me. These hard cement floors are hurting my old bones. I would love a warm home and loving family to retire. I would gladly accept a sponsor which would buy me more time to find that perfect home.

PLEASE HELP!!
All they want is a chance to have a happy life!!!
Savannah Animal Control gets dogs and cats in daily and only has room for 40 to 50 in the big dog room!! Stop and think 40 to 50 dogs just waiting and not knowing what will happen. There is no one to speak for them and time is running out. There will be no tears for them when they take their last breath. Just a new dog to take their place. Please open you heart and home to one of the homeless pets at Animal Control! Listed below are just a handful of dogs on death row!!!!!
We will do adoptions daily from 1:00 until 4:30 !If you do not want to adopt and you would like to help, our dogs would love to get walked and played with and some of our cats would love a warm lap for a while. If you would like to bring treats feel free and you can feed the dogs and cats. We thank you and they thank you!!!!

Peoria is an 8 year old Shih Tzu who has only one eye. She is a sweet old girl.

WV - Cheat Lake: URGENT!! Yellow Lab "Crosby" needs home or rescue!

*** URGENT! PLEASE CROSS-POST!! ***
This is Crosby, a large and lovable Yellow Lab mix boy, who also happens to be blind.

He was found a couple of weeks ago in the deep snow; he was disoriented, frightened wandering in circles. A good Samaritan saw that Crosby was in distress, and they took him to a nearby animal hospital (Cheat Lake Animal Hospital).

The staff at the hospital absolutely loves this friendly boy. They are, however, not really allowed to keep him there, as they are not a shelter facility (they definitely do NOT want to have to bring him to a shelter, where he will most likely be euthanized). They have posted notices, but nobody has stepped forward to claim sweet Crosby. He now needs a loving rescue or adopter to step up to help him.

Crosby has been neutered and given all of his shots. He seems to be a healthy, happy, gentle boy. If you are able to help, please call Diane Brozic at the hospital:

TX, URGENT! LETHAL WHITE AUSSIE - Lily needs rescue or home, ASAP!

*** VERY URGENT!! PLEASE CROSS-POST!! ***

URGENT IN TEXAS!! Hello, everyone. Please meet Lily, a deaf and nearly blind LETHAL WHITE AUSSIE girl.

Lily is approximately one-year old. She is sweet and very smart. She readily adapts to new surroundings, and she loves to play with other dogs and puppies.

Lily is currently living with her foster mom, Connie, in Texas. Connie pulled Lily from a high kill shelter for another rescue. The rescue, however, backed out of the deal, and they left little Lily with Connie. Connie has been caring for Lily, but Connie now has to move out of her home at the end of the month. Because Connie has three other senior dogs, and because her new rental home limits the number of animals that Connie is allowed to own, Connie desperately needs to find a home or rescue for Lily by March 1. So far, she hasn't had much luck.

If you would like more information about Lily, or if you'd like to help her, please contact Connie directly:

Connie's Phone: 832-528-9209
Connie's Work Phone: 713-209-3390
Connie's e-mail: CONNIE.WILHITE@EEOC.GOV

If you are unable to help Lily, please spread the word, ASAP, to appropriate lists and to reputable rescues. Many thanks.

RESCUED: Senior Rat Terrier/JRT

RESCUED

This old girl was dumped, no doubt: she has a huge mammory tumor, a tumor on her side. She is blind and has additional issues with her right eye. AND ... she is the best little dog!!

This girl, though blind, knows who I am; puts her feet up in my lap; and this morning, gave me kisses. I cannot tell her her time is up, I just don't have it in me to do this to her.

She eats great. Her teeth look wonderful, and she sleeps in her bed 90% of the time. It is not fair to the elderly when they have to be chosen (to be euthanized), just because they are old. PLEASE, I am begging with tears in my eyes, SAVE HER!!! She is just one of those old ones, who has made such an impression on me, I have to attempt to save her.

Please contact me and help save this girl!

Philadelphia, PA: Senior blind Lab mix

Bear (09561317)
Old Man Bear is a 10-13 year old Lab mix that was surrendered by his owners because he's too old. Bear has some problems seeing well, he is suffering from cataracts. He is a good boy, quite independent and not too demanding. He appreciates a good head scratch, but rarley solicits attention. He interacted properly with other dogs, but perfers the company of older dogs that will not demand play or bother him too much. A nice calm home is just what Bear needs! He is at the PSPCA's ACCT branch in Philadelphia. Email nsmith@pspca.org if you can help.

She seems to get along with other dogs fine unless they get in her face. Then she bears her teeth. May be a fear tactic since she can't see them. We estimate that she is 10+. She is gray in color and likes to explore. I think she can see shadows since she doesn't continually bump into things. And as long as you talk to her and let her know you are there she doesn't get startled easily. She doesn't mind being picked up either. We bathed her and trimmed her "bangs." She has the softest fur I have ever felt in my life...curly and gray.

She is available for adoption but is not out for the public to view unless she is requested by someone who has seen her online. Regarding our shelter, we are a city run kill-shelter. We don't euthanize based on time in....only volume of animals. Currently she is not in the general population since that would probably be too traumatic for her....it gets pretty loud. She is being kept in the back along with a momma dog and babies and a Chi. This weekend I let her roam the shelter Saturday and Sunday while I was cleaning. I didn't see her run into anything. She just goes in and out of rooms walking the perimeters. I think she was trying to learn the area. She is very sweet.

RESCUED: CA - Gardena: 4 mo old BLIND terrier puppy

A4081357.jpgA4081357

RESCUED. This 4 month old terrier mix came in as a stray on 1/28 and apparently it may be blind. The volunteers fell in love with him on Saturday and are extremely worried about him. They say that there is no one networking this dog and no holds on it and they really want him to be adopted.

He is as sweet as pie and comes running to you when you call his name. Appears to be very healthy, sweet, and playful despite the fact of blindness, this pup will recognize your voice right away. Assistance with pull and transport if anyone needs its.

    More About F-3

this is a female beagle or beagle mix, she is a reddish brown and white in color, she is short hair and a medium size , this girl is probably deaf and maybe blind and is extremely underweight, her health is not good and she needs some help and a forever home to spend her last day, she is very sweet Our adoption fee is $63.00 and includes the spay or neuter which is done after the adoption has been approved and Dog License. Dogs at the pound are strays and surrenders and are not health or temperament checked. Any dog from any pound can be infected with parvo or other contagious diseases and should be isolated from your pets at home until examined or tested by a vet. All puppies receive a shot and are wormed upon adoption. If you adopt a puppy who has been vaccinated it should not be given another parvo vaccination for at least two weeks. For information on parvo, please consult a veterinarian. The breeds listed are only our best guess. We make no claims as to the temperament, breed, age or sex of any dog listed.

Please be respectful to the Shelter Staff. Adoptions and rescues are first come, first served.  The pound is not able to comply with requests to hold dogs. Thank you.

Keller would make a great companion for the right home. Despite his blindness he is a wonderful dog who gets around just fine. Keller has glaucoma and needs to have eye drops put in his eyes daily. Of course, being a cocker spaniel he needs to have his ears cleaned periodically too. Special care needs to be taken when working with Keller's eye and ears, since he is blind he can get startled and not understand what you are doing. Please stop in and meet Keller soon. Keller gets along well with other dogs. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please stop in or call the shelter at (856) 663-3058 and check on his/her availability.
