TX, Houston "Isabella" Dachshund X w/ Cataracts **Surgery may correct**

Name:  Isabella

Age:  2 years

Sex:  Female (spayed)

Breed:  Dachshund/Terrier mix

Location:  Houston, TX

Vet Info:  Isabella weighs 26 pounds.  She is up to date on her rabies. She is spayed.  She is also heartworm negative.

Owner Info: Isabella was surrendered at a shelter by her owner and was scheduled for euthanasia when she was pulled by an independent rescuer.  Then it was discovered that she has cataracts, so the rescuer is hoping to find someone who might want Isabella who will find out if she could be a candidate for cataract surgery.  Isabella is an indoor dog who is not yet housebroken or leashtrained.  She is shy but good with people of all ages and also good with dogs. She is currently living with a foster family that has 3 other dogs but, because she cannot see, sometimes she invades the space of the other dogs, and this causes some friction.  Therefore, the rescuer is not sure how long Isabella can stay in this foster home although Isabella has never bitten or snapped as far as anyone knows.  She seems to be in good health with the exception of an ongoing skin issues, probably due to allergies and fleas, and she is receiving treatment.  The rescuer said: "She's a sweet girl who really needs a break."

MD, Cumberland "Mya" Blind Cockapoo **Urgent** In need of medical

Mya is an adorable and sweet cockapoo who was saved by her current rescue.  Due to their smaller size, they are unable to pay for Mya's surgical needs, and they are desperately hoping for other rescue placement so she can have the care that she needs.

Name:    Mya
Age:       6 years
Sex:      Female (not yet spayed due to current medical issues)
Breed:   Cockapoo
Location:  Cumberland, MD area

Vet Info:  Mya is not yet spayed due to current medical issues.  Mya is up to date on her rabies and distemper / parvo vaccines, which are next due 4/24/14.  Per Mya's current rescue, she has advanced cataracts and glaucoma. The cataracts are moving closer to the front of the eye and there is a chance of rupture if her eyes are not removed.  She also has a fatty mass in her abdomen, however their vet has said this is not a concern at this time.  Mya weighs 10 pounds.

Owner Info:   Mya is a beautiful and very sweet girl who was saved by her current rescue.  Unfortunately, Mya is going to need surgery on her eyes. Her current rescue has attempted to raise the funds in order to be able to provide her with the care that she needs but was unable to do so. The only option for sweet Mya is to send her to a larger rescue that is more established, so that she can receive the surgery she needs.  Mya is an indoor dog with run of the house, she is housebroken and leash trained.  She also knows basic commands.   Mya is good with people of all ages, and both dogs and cats.  She is not possessive of toys, treats, or food, and has never bitten or snapped.  Her rescue writes, " Mya is a great dog. She has adapted to being blind very well. She gets around the house with ease, and also has found her way around the yard and back to the door."

WV, Princeton "Daniel" Blind Bully X **Urgent**

Daniel is a very sweet and handsome boy who came to the US from the Bahamas.  His current rescue is not familiar with dogs with vision loss, and they're hoping for other rescue placement so that Daniel can finally find the home he deserves!

Name:     Daniel
Age:         4 years old (estimated)
Sex:        Male (neutered)
Breed:     Mix
Location:  Princeton, WV area

Vet Info:   Daniel is confirmed neutered and up to date on vaccines.  He is next due for his rabies and dhlpp vaccines on 4/30/14.  Daniel is heartworm negative.  He does have a tick-borne disease called Ehrylichia and will be on medication for a couple of weeks.  Daniel weighs 40 pounds.

Owner Info:   Daniel is a very handsome boy who was recently rescued from Nassau, Bahamas, by a smaller-sized rescue.  Daniel was severely dehydrated when he arrived, so he was on IVs for a few days. Daniel has Ehrlichia, which is a tick-borne disease normally found in tropical areas, and he will be on medication for a few more weeks. As a stray, he was also hit by cars in the Bahamas, and this may have caused neurological issues which could be the cause of his loss of vision, but it is not known if this or the Ehrlichia has caused his vision loss.  Daniel is not completely blind, and it is not known if he will ever be completely blind.  One of his eyes has a film, and the other is clear, but has no reaction to a finger close to his eye.  Other than that, they say he is healthy, his blood work is good, and he gets around very well.  Daniel's current rescue is not familiar with dogs who have vision loss, and they are hoping for other rescue placement for Daniel.  They write, "We would love to see a rescue or adopter take Daniel who is familiar with dogs who have impaired vision. We only want the best for you Daniel and we know he needs to go to someone who can handle his issue correctly and who has plenty of time for him".   Daniel is an indoor dog confined to one area of the house, he is housebroken and leash trained.  Daniel gets along with people of all ages, and both other dogs and cats!  Daniel has never bitten or snapped, and is very timid. Since he lived homeless on the streets and food was very scarce, he does growl if a dog gets close to him with a bowl of food. He only does this with dogs, not people, and they are trying to break him of that. He has never hurt another dog.    His current rescue writes, "He is SO sweet, so gentle, he makes me cry every time I am with him. He's breaking my heart.  Daniel has never in his life had a home of his own. He had to search for food and shelter daily. Daniel has been through a lot, and it would be a dream come if Daniel could find a loving family".

OK, Fort Gibson"Keller" Blind Husky X

I volunteer with our Fort Gibson, OK Animal Shelter as well as help with a local rescue group.  We have recently taken in a blind dog that a kindly woman rescued - he was laying in the middle of the road, emaciated and dehydrated.  She has gotten him back on his feet but does not have the means to do anything further or keep him in a safe spot.  We are looking for help for him to hopefully get him to safety and a loving home.  I was wondering if you can help in any way?  He is very sweet but i can not figure out the breed mix yet?  He is a beautiful red orange color with a bushy tail as you can see in the pics.  Please share your advice or any help that can be provided...

Fort Gibson Animal Shelter fortgibsonanimalshelter@gmail.com

unfortunately, there is no update.  Keller is still just being "housed".  We've had no offers for helping him out other than the networking...
Please let me know if you are aware of any possibilities to help him get out and to a more suitable environment and home, etc.
Poor blind boy Keller was found laying in the middle of the road by a kind woman, emaciated and dehydrated. He is now with the local shelter and in need. They say he is very sweet but and likes women better than men
